Vrindavan is an ancient pilgrimage place for Lord Krishna devotees. It is famous for its temples and attracts people from all over India and the world. With around 5,000 temples, Vrindavan is known for its festivals like Janmashtami, Kartika Damodara Deepotsava and Radhashtami. The town is located on the bank of the Yamuna River and is a major pilgrimage site in India. The temples in Vrindavan, both old and new, are located within a few kilometers, making it easy for devotees to visit. Many pilgrims also do Vrindavana parikrama. Vrindavan is the enchanting land where Lord Krishna spent His childhood, and performed many wonderful, soul-satisfying pastimes. One can immerse in these divine pastimes by visiting various places during this Yatra. Jaipur is called as Gupta Vrindavan. When Muslim invaders demolished the temples of Vrindavan, the major temple Deities shifted to Jaipur, like Radha Govind Ji, Radha Gopinath Ji, and Radha Madan Mohan ji Deities.
vaikuṇṭhāj janito varā madhu-purī tatrāpi rāsotsavād
vṛndāraṇyam udāra-pāṇi-ramaṇāt tatrāpi govardhanaḥ
rādhā-kuṇḍam ihāpi gokula-pateḥ premāmṛtāplāvanāt
kuryād asya virājato giri-taṭe sevāṁ vivekī na kaḥ
Mathurā, the holy place where the Lord appeared, is spiritually superior to Vaikuṇṭha. Vṛndāvana forest, with Kṛṣṇa’s rāsa-līlā pastimes, is superior to Mathurā-purī. Govardhana Hill, raised by Śrī Kṛṣṇa, is even superior to Vṛndāvana forest. And the supreme place is Śrī Rādhā-kuṇḍa, overflowing with the loving prema of Śrī Kṛṣṇa, the Lord of Gokula. Who wouldn’t want to serve this divine Rādhā-kuṇḍa at the foot of Govardhana Hill? (Nectar of Instruction – Verse 9)
