LORD KRISHNA

The word ‘Krishna’ derived from Sanskrit has been interpreted differently by people over the ages. The most literal derivation is ‘all-attractive’.

Lord Krishna is the whole existence in itself – Krishna includes everything. As is often seen in the pictures or stories of Lord Krishna, everything is attracted to him…be it the cows, birds, trees, cowherds, the water of Vrindavana, Gopis, Pandavas, or anyone who has come to meet or know Him.

According to Parasara Muni, a Rigvedic Maharishi and author of many ancient Indian texts, only the one who possesses strength, fame, wealth, knowledge, beauty and renunciation -all the six opulence- at the same time and to an unlimited degree, can be deemed as the Supreme Personality of Godhead.

During his lifetime on earth, Krishna has through his numerous actions proven that He possesses all the six opulence, in supreme capacity.

Strength: Krishna was all-powerful right from his birth. The lord was just 3 months old when Putana, the demon, attempted to kill Him. But with unlimited strength by His side, the divine baby foiled Putana’s attempts, and the demon ended up dying at the Lord’s hands.

Fame: From a young age, he demonstrated qualities no human could ever have. During his stay on earth, Krishna slayed powerful demons to protect his devotees. He led Pandavas to victory in the epic battle of Mahabharata. His deeds and miracles has been glorified in numerous texts and poems, all of which brought Krishna boundless fame.

Wealth: According to Srimad Bhagavatam, Krishna owned a staggering 16,108 palaces, all made of pure marble and bedecked with precious jewels. These were home to his near and dear ones. The rooms were adorned with furniture made of ivory and gold. In the history of human society, no human is ever said to have owned riches to this enormity.

Knowledge: Bhagavad Gita is a compilation of the immense sublime knowledge that Lord Krishna imparted to Arjuna before the battle of Mahabharata. The principles stated in the Gita are pertinent even today. Krishna not only possessed sublime knowledge, but also passed it on to his worthy followers.

Beauty: Lord Brahma has described the beauty of Lord Krishna, in many verses of his Brahma-samhita. The beauty of Krishna was so captivating, that one look at Him would make you forget the material world around you.

Renunciation or Vairagya, means to have dispassion or have no attraction to the material world. Krishna possessed supreme, boundless spiritual knowledge, and yet lived a detached and liberated life.

With all the six virtues in abundance, Krishna is truly the Supreme Godhead.

We had an excellent and uneventful trip to Char Dham yatra by helicopter, which Punya Kshetras had extremely well organised and arranged. They responded quickly to my emails and addressed my concerns while planning our trip. Given the difficult roads we had to navigate, having a good driver was critical - the journey was excellent and marvellous in terms of keeping us safe. The sadhus acted as our guides, and we are glad we chose them because they did an excellent job of explaining everything in detail. Punya Kshetras chose some of the best hotels for us to stay in (many of them right on the banks of beautiful rivers), and the majority of the hotel staff were extremely helpful.

Punya kshetras did a wonderful job of planning and arranging our journey to Char Dham Yatra by helicopter , and it went without a hitch. While planning the vacation for us, they were quite swift in responding to my emails and taking care of my worries. Having a professional driver was crucial given the challenging roads we had to travel on; the journey did a fantastic job of keeping us safe. The sadhus themselves served as our guides, and we are happy that we decided to do so because they did a fantastic job thoroughly explaining everything. Most of the hotels' staff members were very helpful, and Punya Kshetras picked some of the best ones for us to stay at (several of them right on the river banks).

The yatra was properly thought out. My tour to the nine temples in Ahobilam would not have taken place without the help of the Tirtha Yatra team.
